Wedgwood in this jasperware "monopodia" vase combines a number of white sprigged architectural elements to transform a solid light blue jasper flowerpot form into an elegant classical statement. The pot itself is divided into sections with simple horizontal molded bands. Four vertical reeded monopodia define four square sections surrounding the piece, not unlike the vertical elements in a paneled room. The monopodia are finished with a traditional paw foot and lion ring mask top. Floral garlands suspended between each mask frame a petite classical medallion. A band of ribbon entwined with ivy backs the masks creating a horizontal frieze, while a minute ribbon looped string follows the molded body detail near the paw feet finishing this architectural scheme. Acanthus detail trims both the rim and foot of the piece.
