"The World" pattern by Wallis, Gimson & Co. is like a collection of postcard views for the table. The pattern is executed in brown transfer on a durable, ironstone weight ivory body. The format starts with a cluster of daffodils and prunus in the lower left corner which extends across the plate providing a backdrop for two scenic reserves. The larger, circular reserve presents a photo-like view of the Governor General's Residence, Ottawa. The smaller rectangular reserve presents an engraved image of City Hall, Boston. The pattern is finished with two tightly patterned edge bands reminiscent of metalwork.
