The dense non-scenic "Coral Border" pattern immediately associates it with the continuous "sheet" patterns occasionally found in transferware. Closer examination will reveal, however, that the pattern features a distinct center surrounded by a ring of border reserves that echo the soft scalloping of the edge. Elements of the pattern are set off by a lattice of coral; each section is centered by a stylized floral sprig. Like the sheet patterns, "Coral Border" is closely related to printed textiles of the period.
