Wedgwood seems to have used a variety of tiny relief sprig groups specifically tailored to miniature pieces such as this dark blue jasper dip plate. While there may be some crossover to the "Cupid and Psyche" groups found on larger pieces, most of the sprigs used on this plate are unique to Wedgwood's miniature output.
Despite their scale, their classical intent and at times even the identities of the figures are preserved with clarity. The groups are separated with simplified versions of the trellis motifs that serve a similar function on larger jasper pieces.
