Various figural vignettes are accomodated in the center scene, tablet-like reserves in the border, and alternating with these, depictions of clasical urns. A unique ground pattern utilizing vine leaves underlies the entire composition, suggesting the wine-loving Mediterranean region.

The linear graphic style of the mythological scenes reveals the influence of the engravings of Sir William Hamilton's collection of painted vases, which created a sensation at the volume's 1804 publication.
