This ring-handled Bute shape cup and saucer gives the appearance of a breezy freehand enamel study of a shell and seaweed accented by a very loose border of ovals and dots. This favorite was produced by both New Hall and Machin as well as others.

Our attribution,only tentative without New Hall's pattern number (1045),is based here especially upon the ovoid ring handle. The texture of the body, fine bubbles etc, also bear similarity to other New Hall pieces we have owned.
