A yellow glazed centerpiece basket and stand is edged with oval piercing (creating a woven effect) and accented by a band of naive purple flowers and green foliage against a pale blue enamel ground. Delicate white stamens complete the blossoms.

One is reminded of the still life paintings of Raphael Peale in which similar reticulated baskets often serve as the elegant and practical stands for displays of luscious fruit.
