The pleasures of the "Kaleidoscope" pattern are as simple as a stroll through a garden in full bloom. The pattern is based on clusters of multi-colored flowers: pink blossoms with blue accents and blue blossoms with pink accents.
Additional interest and definition is provided by the contrasting backgrounds of the nosegays. In the center of the plate, the floral group stands out crisply against the unprinted white clay body. In the border sections the blooms are backed by a continuous blue transfer stylized vine motif.

While the "Kaleidoscope" pattern may give the impression of simple rustic pleasures, this sort of bi-color printing in which the colors are intricately combined required a good deal of technical skill--both in lining up the separate transfer sheets and protecting the first printed color from being spoiled during the subsequent printing process. For this reason it is much more common to find bi-color examples with single color centers paired with contrasting single color borders.
