This little plate is a dessert plate from a child's teaset.  The decoration depicts scenes from the tale, "Cinderella."  In this scene, the Prince's page has just placed the slipper on Cinderella's foot at which point the Prince is proclaiming that he has just found his Princess. If there is any doubt concerning the happy ending, it should be resolved by the hearts floating above Cinderella' head. (Are they embroidered on the tapestry or have they just appeared in mid-air?)

The body of the plate is a typical ivory color with transfer executed in a butterscotch brown.   The design is finished with a leaf and tendril border around the very edge.

by Maurice and Evelyn Milbourn (p.77-78, Figure 8).
