Coalport defines Anglo-japanese design in the rich pattern of this porcelain saucer dish. An almost black-cobalt framework sets off alternating panels of pink and green aesthetic floral sprays laid on gilt grounds. The center of this dessert dish is left undecorated creating effective contrast between the white porcelain and the cobalt and gilt border.

The Coalport post 1890 mark is somewhat revealing in regard to the duration of Aesthetic design trends. This little tea piece reminds us that Aestheticism did not disappear as cutting edge taste changed.
