Wedgwood uses a petite size dutch jug shape for this crimson creamer. Tableaus on either side include a Trojan war scene, Priam begging Achilles for the body of his son Hector. On the reverse, Daedalus stands with Icarus who wears the fateful wings his father has made for him. The scenes are accented by foliage beneath the handle and spout as well as a band of laurel around the spout.

While these little creamer pitchers are charming, they are also souvenirs of their era. We find this size creamer accompanied by an open sugar in Rookwood art pottery as well as Wedgwood. They were originally intended as accessories for one's bridge table, to be used when serving coffee or tea to a foursome.
