In this example, Adams further embellishes their already elaborate "Fountain Scenery" pattern with a two color treatment. The center scene of the dinner plate, executed in a rich green, features a large fountain with horses in the foreground. A lush river landscape and exotic buildings provides an almost fairytale background, complete with an elaborate gondola plying the waters.
The border framing the pattern, executed in red, fills the elaborately scalloped flange with five floral reserves arranged on a lacy colored field.

As it became more tricky for potters to pirate copyrighted images for their patterns, they more and more turned from real world sites to the gardens of the mind. "Fountain Scenery" is clearly an example. Oddly enough the need to create scenes "from scratch" made it more possible to coordinate the varying scenes for different size pieces into a complimentary suite for the table.
