This version of the Wedgwood & Co. "Melton" pattern is printed in green transfer on an ivory body. Bands of Japanese-inspired pattern seem to be woven and wrapped together, capturing five animal subject reserves to form the border framing the plate. One of the border patterns is repeated on a larger scale to create the center decoration, a circular field that appears to be pierced with vine leaves to reveal the ivory body beneath. The circular field is finished with a plaited wreath of blossoms.
