The narrow column form of Wedgwood's candlesticks provides a straight vertical surface for the application of figural sprigs which wrap around the front and back. The vignettes are separated by realistic trees and foliage. A scroll border finishes the base and a simple laurel band accents the top of the column.

Each of the sticks features the eighteenth century relief, most likely by William Hackwood, "Bellerophon Watering Pegasus." The reverse sides show respectively the infant Achilles receiving his (almost) protective dip and the infant cupid being deprived of his bow.
