Enoch Wood and Sons prominently displays the beehive of a rural farm enclave nestled in countryside scenery on the exterior of this medium blue waste bowl. The beehive is of such importance as to command its own little ramshcakle shelter and is repeated again in the bottom of the waste bowl accompanied by a simple border of grapes and florals. Typical of Enoch Wood-- and the general characteristics of 1820's blue pearlware--the potting is cleanly executed in a crisp, light weight.

We have owned two other plates and a platter in this pattern, but we do not find a listing for it in our references. Our attribution is based on the quality of the wares and also on the shapes of the plates and platter owned previously. The blanks on those pieces had a distinctive profile and molded beaded edge which Wood used in his "British Cities"series.
