A glistening cobalt ground is highlighted with a double gilt fretwork about the rim and center of this plate. The multi-flower Sevres-style nosegay seems to swirl like a propellor around a cluster of primroses in the center of the group.

Here Spode looks back to Worcester's 18th Century "Wet Blue" patterns, not only in border and gilt treatment, but in a near exact copy of the central Sevres-style floral decoration.
