In a tableau reminiscent of the opening scenes of Peter Rabbit, three rabbits happily munch away at a choice selection of greens from Farmer Brown's vegetable patch (a scattering of red dabs may indicate these are beets??). The French majolica is typified by a molded blank creating a three dimensional landscape complete with distant mountains and sky. Contrasting colors underscore the molded detail, pale tan for the sky, pale blue-gray for distant mountains, and a more vibrant tan for the vegetable patch with touches of green foliage -- and of course spots of deep ruby red for the beets. Finally, the soft furry brown of the rabbits provides the focal point of the pattern.
