Two bands of dense bright blue florals trim this glazed drab body teapot. Note how the floral band around the body continues under the spout. A co-ordinating second band decorates the lid.

Wedgwood referred to the shape of this teapot as their "Egyptian" shape. Typified by the crisp right angle of the handle finished with a slight curl at the base, shell fitting at the base of the spout, and simple molded bands around the body and lid, the shape occurs in all of Wedgwood's stonewares. One finds it both undecorated and with the bands filled in with sprigwork as in this example.
